Academic Activities and Responsibilities

I am a Marylander by birth. I was born and raised here in Baltimore and I went to college at St. Mary's College of MD (a small public college in southern Maryland) and Medical School at the University of Maryland. I developed an interest in Emergency Medicine while a third year but found myself also drawn to Pediatrics. After I completed my NICU rotation and loved it, I knew I had to do both. While yes there are only 3 Peds/Em programs in the country, I had formed so many connections and so respected the physicians I worked with as a student that I could not help but want to stay put. Also I realized that I would have the support of family and friends nearby which can be crucial in the hectic life of a resident. On a personal note, I am married, have a son, born my 4th year of medical school, and a dog named Chance.
